Why is Darfur so important to the Jewish community?

Context
Interfaith Leadership Meeting on Darfur
Wednesday, March 21, 2007, the Interfaith Leadership Meeting on Darfur took place between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM at the Conservative Jewish synagogue Kehillath Israel at 384 Harvard Street in Brookline.[1] The synagogue's rabbi William Hamilton is a director of the David Project, which has lead a media campaign against the Islamic Society of Boston (ISB) and the Roxbury Crossing Islamic Center that the ISB is building. (See http://tinyurl.com/28n4x7 and http://tinyurl.com/2dxcyg.)
The meeting served as preparation for the March 29th public hearing of the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Public Service during the on pending legislation (S1474[2]) to direct the Massachusetts state pension fund (Pension Reserves Investment Management Board or PRIM) to divest selectively from Sudan because of the ongoing crisis in Darfur.
The speakers included:
- the Reverend Dr. Gloria White-Hammond,[3] who is co-pastor of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts and who has long been associated with American Anti-Slavery Group and Christian Solidarity International (CSI), which were accused of raising money for fraudulent slave redemptions during the conflict in South Sudan (see http://tinyurl.com/24ryzx) and whose leaders often used the human rights events and conferences as opportunities to defame and to demonize Arabs and Muslims (see http://tinyurl.com/yp78gr),
- Mark Hanis, who is founder and executive director of the Global Intervention Network and who states explicitly that his Birthright Israel (http://www.birthrightisrael.org) trip provided him with the inspiration for his suddenly well-funded Darfur campaign, which provides the perfect distraction from the ongoing atrocities and genocide that the State of Israel commits against the native population.[4]
- Mr. Eric Cohen, who is:
- Co-Chairman of the MA Coalition to Save Darfur,
- founder and Editor-at-Large of The New Atlantis,
- an adjunct fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center,
- a contributor to the flagship Neoconservative periodical The Weekly Standard, and
- a collaborator with the preeminent Neoconservative intellectual William Kristol in editing The Future is Now: America Confronts the New Genetics (see http://tinyurl.com/2sxn6h),
- Ken Sweder, who is
- a former president of the Boston Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC),
- a current member of the board of directors of the Boston JCRC, and
- a member of the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action (JALSA), and
- several others, among whom was a local African American clergyman with an excellent singing voice.
The attendees consisted of clergy and laymen of various denominations and ethnic groups including an Egyptian Muslim.
There was no discussion during the meeting. The speakers simply presented the current strategy and message about Darfur.
Gloria White-Hammond presented some horrific pictures and discussed the Sudan Divestment Bill S1474 as the first in a serious of steps to bring about intervention in Sudan. White-Hammond's approach to Darfur today is similar to the techniques that she used on behalf of Charles Jacobs in the AASG. She invokes a Pavlov trigger, which is usually a gruesome story or photograph, which constitutes no proof whatsoever of her analysis of the situation in Sudan. In this case, a viewer had no way to know whether he was looking at the victim of government militia, rebel militia, brigands, tribal violence, a wife beating, or a vehicular accident. Audience members assaulted by the images are supposed to react by accepting her claims about the atrocities and the solutions without question. White-Hammond is apparently most successful in using this technique to manipulate well-off white Christian suburban Americans. She lamented the lack of participation of Muslims and Muslim women in the Save Darfur movement.
Mark Hanis discussed the marketing of Sudan Divestment via sound bites and punchy slogans, e.g., "Educate, advocate, legislate!"
Sweder is a professional Jew. The description does not mean that he is a doctor or lawyer, for then he would be a Jewish professional. Professional Jews are people like Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) or David Harris of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), and they work for at least one entity within the network of Jewish communal organizations, which collectively constitute the organized Jewish community. Sweder discussed the issue of Darfur from the standpoint of a Jewish communal insider.
He described the initial difficulty of persuading the Jewish Council for Public Affairs (http://www.jewishpublicaffairs.org/), which is the national umbrella organization for the local JCRCs, to support divestment legislation because of the history of the opposition of the organized Jewish community to divestment from Israel, but Sweder and others from the Boston organized Jewish community explained the record of Boston-area human rights activities in which the organized Jewish community has played the leading role. Within the Boston organized Jewish community, the AASG and the David Project constitute the primary human rights advocacy organizations. The Boston professional Jews argued that controlling human rights discourse is "good for the Jews." (See http://tinyurl.com/yp78gr.) The Boston delegation successfully convinced the JCPA to lead the JCRCs in a campaign for selective divestment from Sudan.[5] Thanks to the direct and indirect ongoing efforts of JCRCs and groups aided or sponsored by JCRCs throughout the country, Sudan divestment has become law in Iowa and is in the process of approval in 12 states (http://tinyurl.com/2h9zwu).[6]
The last speaker led the attendees in a song that he composed for the Save Darfur campaign.
Altogether the information provided by the presenters indicates that a clique from the most extremist racist segment of the Boston Jewish community has with the resources of the JCPA and local JCRCs transformed Darfur activism into a highly effective viral marketing program. The JCPA has developed a program that local JCRCs use in Jewish Community Centers, at media update sessions, at college events and at interfaith sessions.
Then from the Jewish community the Darfur campaign has spread even further through American intellectual and political culture with the aid of academic falsifiers and media pundits like Samantha Powers,
- who is the Anna Lindh Professor of Practice of Global Leadership and Public Policy at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government,
- who was the founding director of Carr Center for Human Rights Policy (1998-2002),
- who has been heavily involved in misinforming the public about Darfur (see http://www.ksg.harvard.edu/cchrp/research/audiovideo.php) and
- whose Pulitzer Prize winning book A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide panders ethnic Ashkenazi Americans by conveniently ignoring both
- the mass murders, ethnic cleansing and genocide architected or executed by Bolshevik Ashkenazim during the Russian Revolution and the first 25 years of the Soviet Union and also
- the premeditated genocide of the Palestinian population that Zionist Ashkenazim plotted during the late 19th and first half of the twentieth century, that they began in 1947, and that they continue to execute to this very day.
Just as a biological epidemic initially does its harm locally and then spreads rapidly over larger distances, the Darfur campaign has spread like an influenza outbreak as Jewish bloggers and Jewish community activists spread the propaganda to the media, to academia, throughout the government, to the clergy, to business,[7] throughout society, and finally internationally.
At first, the Save Darfur movement only poisoned human rights discourse within the USA, then it began threatening Sudan with an armed invasion practically guaranteed to create a Sudanese disaster dwarfing that in Iraq, lately Darfur advocacy has complicated US relations with Arab as well as Muslim states, and now it is beginning to interfere with US China politics as Darfur activists have begun to target the Chinese Olympics.
Joint Committee on Public Service Hearing for Pending Legislation S1474
On March 29, 2007 the Joint Committee on Public Service heard testimony from approximately 300 politicians, students and activists at the Boston State House on S1474. Chairman Jay Kaufman opened the hearing by noting that he had never seen larger attendance at any similar event. For approximately three hours the Committee listened to almost uniformly pro-Divestment testimony.
Actress Mia Farrow, whose movie career has been almost entirely defined by her relationships with directors Otto Preminger, Andre Previn and Woody Allen, has in some sense returned to her roots by taking part in this JCRC production, for Otto Preminger is famous inter alia for the screen adaptation of Leon Uris' novel, Exodus, whose composition was for the most part financed by the Israeli government as propaganda. Since her career tanked after her divorce from Woody Allen, she has been working hard to establish her Jewish and pro-Israel credentials, and Hollywood sources have indicated that she will get some parts in upcoming pictures from Universal if her Darfur gig is successful enough.
Part of the video that Farrow showed at the hearing is hosted by Youtube at: http://tinyurl.com/2qu22e.
The gruesome images that Farrow showed in no way proved the veracity of her claims or the validity of selective divestment as a solution, but this sort of mental assault made it hard for the audience to judge her claims or proposed solutions rationally.
The JCRC bussed high school students from Harwich to the hearing. Other speakers included members of the cast from the AASG’s anti-Muslim anti-Arab fake human rights events like Panther Alier of the Sudanese ‘Lost Boys’ and Smith College English Professor Eric Reeves, who became an expert on the Sudan while working on the AASG and CSI’s fraudulent “slave-redemption” campaign.
Eric Cohen, who is a Neocon associate of William Kristol, also spoke.
Anthony Barsamian of the KNOW Genocide Coalition and the Armenian Assembly of America once again tagged along with the organized Jewish community. (See http://tinyurl.com/ysjo4x.)
Rabbi Or N. Rose (Hebrew College, Newton, Massachusetts) connected the sufferings of Darfurans to the sufferings of the Children of Israel in Egypt when he spoke.
The Committee only questioned two witnesses, who represented local investment funds and who had no problem with the Sudan Divestment Legislation because they were going to sell stock short in order to profit from the decline in stock price instead of profiting from any increase in stock value that resulted from business that companies are doing in the Sudan.
The Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur provides transcripts of a lot of the pro-Sudan divestment testimony at http://savedarfurma.googlepages.com/statedivestment.
Only three witnesses opposed S1474.
PRIM executive director Michael Travaglini opposed S1474 because it would force pension managers to assess the risk of divestment before investing in any controversial region.
David Rolde of the Green Rainbow Party attacked S1474 as a propaganda campaign to demonize Arabs and Muslims and identified the pending legislation as part of an imperialist strategy to prepare Americans for war in the Sudan to benefit of US and Israeli interests (http://www.green-rainbow.org/Newsletters/election06/articles/sudan.html).
Inventor-Entrepreneur Joachim Martillo[8] read an abridged version of a statement that deconstructed the interest of the organized Jewish community in Darfur and that opposed S1474 because it is harmful to Darfurans, based on falsehood and conceived in deceit.
Overall, the type of grass roots-like political activity in which the organized Jewish community engaged at the Public Service Committee hearing suggests that AIPAC and similar specifically Zionist political lobby organizations represent only part of the web of control that Jewish or Zionist groups can exert or attempt to exert over public discourse about the Middle East, about human rights, about Arabs and about Islam.
Islamic Relief Fundraising Dinner
April 1, 2007 Islamic Relief Worldwide held a fund-raising dinner for Darfur at the Sheraton Colonial Hotel in Wakefield, Massachusetts.[9] Imam Zaid Shakir (http://www.zaidshakir.com/) of the Zaytuna Institute (http://www.zaytuna.org/) was the guest speaker.
These gatherings are all fairly similar whether they are run by Muslim American religious, Arab American political, Jewish American religious, or ethnic Ashkenazi American political groups.
The fund-raising organization provides a catered meal in one of the hotel’s conference rooms. Islamic Relief provided fairly standard American fare of fish or vegetarian lasagna. In terms of interesting ethnic cuisine, the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (http://www.adc.org/) provides a far superior meal, but the Islamic religious groups provide the best child care and can serve as a reasonable way for a couple with young children to get out for an evening.
The speakers described their experiences at refugee camps in Darfur and the slides were not nearly as gruesome as the pictures provided by Gloria White-Hammond or Mia Farrow. Imam Shakir emphasized the Islamic piety of the population of Darfur.
The Islamic Relief speaker pointed out that janjaweed (standard Arabic jund jawa’id) is simply a generic term for cavalry or militia. A janjaweed may be allied with the government, fighting for the rebellion or simply engaging in brigandage.
Because Darfur and Chad are so resource poor, refugee women that ventured outside the camps to collect firewood threatened the livelihood of local people, who sometimes became angry and attacked the refugees. This sort of violence is a consequence of the civilian population displacement caused by the civil war but is separate from the fighting between the rebels and the government. Once Islamic Relief workers acquired more efficient stoves so that the refugees gathered far less wood for fuel, a major source of friction between refugees and local people diminished tremendously.
Islamic Relief sought no money for political lobbying, and the audience was quite charitable. One attendee pledged $10,000 to aid the refugees while two other guests pledged $5,000, and practically everyone pledged something or forwent dessert.
Statement Preface
The text below is Joachim Martillo's complete statement, of which he read an abridgement before the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Public Service during the March 29th public hearing on pending legislation S1474.
The statement is tailored to the Passover season just as was the speech of Rabbi Or N. Rose (Hebrew College, Newton, Massachusetts) before the Committee.
At a Passover Seder (home service) traditionally the youngest child asks four questions that relate to Passover to the other attendees. This Passover all Americans should ask a fifth question of the organized Jewish community.
The fifth question: why is Darfur so important to the organized Jewish community?
Because the organized Jewish community has taken the lead in pushing the Massachusetts legislature to pass a bill to require the state pension fund to undertake selective divestment from Sudan, both citizens and legislators need to understand the importance of Darfur to the organized Jewish community.
Because it is the Passover season, many Jewish Darfur activists explicitly compare the sufferings of Darfurans with the afflictions of the bnai yisrael (Children of Israel) in Egyptian bondage. Such activists express the hope that Sudan Divestment can be the first step in liberating Darfurans just as the Exodus brought freedom as the first step in transforming the Children of Israel into the am yisrael (Community of Israel)[10]. This transformation reaches completion with the giving of the Law of Moses.[11]
Gentiles can be come Jews through a ritual acceptance of the Law of Moses. For the last several hundred years, as the final step of the process, the convert affirms the “Thirteen Principles of the Jewish Faith.” Moses (Mosheh, Musa) Maimonides (the RAMBAM), who is the preeminent rabbinic scholar of the Middle Ages and who unlike the vast majority of modern Jews was ethnically Arab (See http://tinyurl.com/3bpcr6), first summarized these principles in the twelfth century in his Commentary to Mishnah (Sanhedrin, chapter 10). They provide a useful intellectual framework for deconstructing the primary concerns of the organized Jewish community in the Darfuran conflict.
The RAMBAM's first affirmation tells us to start with fundamentals just as he starts with core idea of Jewish religion.
[Please note that different versions of the Thirteen Principles have minor variations in formulation and order because of the different choices that various translators made in rendering the original Arabic text into Hebrew.]
Ani maamin beemunah shlemah shehabore yitbarakh shmo hu bore umanhig lekhol habrurim, wehu levado asah weoseh weyaaseh lekhol hamaasim.
I believe with complete faith that the Creator — blessed be His Name — is Creator and Guide to all his creatures, and he alone made and makes and will make everything.
Here are the basics of Darfur.
In Darfur practically everyone is a black African Muslim. The population is divided between nomads and settled farmers.
Since at least as far back as 1987 when there was a crop failure in Darfur, the Sudan Liberation Army has been attempting to recruit and to organize the settled farmers in an attempt to overthrow the Central Sudanese government. The movement presents itself as democratic, but some of the leaders may have dreams of reestablishing the minor Islamic Empire that used to be centered on Darfur.
The other rebel group is the Justice and Equality Movement, which is allied with Hasan al-Turabi, who is an Islamist opposition leader with pan-Islamic politics.
The ruler of Sudan is Omar al-Bashir. He is also Islamist-inclined, but he has a more Arabist orientation. As a consequence his allies are generally called Arabs as a political statement even if they are black Africans as is the case in Darfur. He is more or less allied with the US in the War on Terror.
The RAMBAM tells us in affirmation ten that the organized Jewish community cannot conceal its real motivations.
Ani maamin beemunah shlemah shehabore yitbarakh shmo yodea kol maaseh bnei adam wekhol mahshevotam sheneemar: hayotzer yahad libam, hamevin el kol maaseihem.
I believe with complete faith that the Creator — blessed be His Name — knows every deed of men and all their thoughts as it is said: He Who puts their hearts together is He Who understands all their deeds.
A large segment of the organized Jewish community is panicked at an open public discussion of the crimes of the State of Israel and at the growing size or potential political strength of the American Muslim community.
Darfur divestment is a red herring that Israel advocacy organizations have cooked up as a distraction. Militant Zionists have used this sort of tactic for decades. In the 30s the most extreme Americans Zionists invariably opposed discrimination against African Americans[12] in order to obscure the key racist principle of Zionism:
Zionism presupposes that the historical or national rights of Jews to Palestine are superior to the human rights of the native population.
It is hard to be more racist in the Central or Eastern European völkisch sense.
During the 30s there were few Arab or Muslim Americans, and the racist motivation of many superficially progressive activities of the organized Jewish community was hard to discern except perhaps by Polish blue-collar workers, who were generally stiffed by Jewish labor leaders.
Does the organized Jewish community really care about the rights of African Americans?
The criminal conspiracy of the Boston chapters of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC, http://www.jcrcboston.org/), the Anti-Defamation League (ADL, http://www.adl.org/) and the American Jewish Committee (AJC, http://www.ajcboston.org) in the attempt of the David Project (DP, http://www.davidproject.org) to deprive local Muslim Americans of their fundamental constitutional rights as American citizens to assemble and to worship freely in a new mosque at Roxbury Crossing is stymieing a major effort to bring an infusion of cash into a depressed African American section of Boston. (See http://tinyurl.com/yqdtvw, http://tinyurl.com/yayd4n.)
The organized Jewish community is saying, “Blacks don't have the right to political respect. African Americans may not benefit from a major development effort unless we bless it.”
Does the organized Jewish community really care about Africans?
During the 90s the American Anti-Slavery Group (AASG), which like the DP was founded by Charles Jacobs (http://tinyurl.com/yp78gr), engaged in an anti-Arab propaganda campaign that scammed non-Jews by raising money in a fake effort to redeem slaves, who were supposed to have been captured during the civil war in Southern Sudan. Investigative reporting in the Irish Times and the Washington Post (“The Great Slave Scam”, The Irish Times, 23 February 2002; “Ripping Off Slave ‘Redeemers’”, The Washington Post, 26 February 2002, http://tinyurl.com/24ryzx) described how the AASG raised money from non-Jews and then divided it with Sudanese pretending to be either slaves or slavers. The AASG seems to have used most of the donations for the slave redemption to fund Zionist propaganda campaigns, which count as educational activities under the rules of 501 (c) (3) entities as defined in the US tax code.[13]
Because anti-Black, anti-Arab, and anti-Muslim activities of the organized Jewish community are becoming more entwined with general subversion of American norms for the sake of the State of Israel and with profiteering at the expense of gullible people or goyishe kep (non-Jewish heads) as one says in Yiddish idiom, genuinely anti-racist and patriotic Jewish Americans have an ethical obligation to oppose professional Jews like Nancy Kaufman (JCRC, http://tinyurl.com/yqfj2l), Andrew Tarsy (ADL, http://tinyurl.com/yqgg5k), Abe Foxman (ADL, http://tinyurl.com/3cghhj), David Harris (AJC, http://tinyurl.com/2nkc8j) and, of course, Charles Jacobs (DP, http://tinyurl.com/yvyvjp, http://semitism.net/?p=51) as well as the Jewish plutocrats like the Bronfmans (http://tinyurl.com/39tcxv), Saban (http://tinyurl.com/24ldft), the Krafts (http://tinyurl.com/36odpd)[14] and the Adelsons (http://tinyurl.com/35xqc6), whose contributions make it possible for the professional Jews to ignore the concerns of the vast majority of the American Jewish community.
As more and more official Jewish groups adopt Jacobs' tactics of creating fake or distorted human rights or constitutional issues to defame or demonize Arabs and Muslims, the most racist un-American subversive treasonous segment of the American Jewish community is solidifying its hold over a wide range of Jewish communal organizations with serious repercussions both for the USA and also for American Jews.
The RAMBAM tells us the following.
Ani maamin beemunah shlemah, shehabore yitbarakh shmo gomel tov leshomrei mitswotaw umaanish leovri mitswotaw.
I believe with complete faith that the Creator — blessed be His Name — rewards those who observe His Commandments and punishes those who transgress them.
Some of the consequences are obvious. Hostility toward Jews is rising worldwide, and we can expect it to increase in the USA, but the misuse of the Darfur and related misbehavior of the organized Jewish community and Zionist Lobby no longer only threatens Palestinians, Iraqis and Afghans but is now becoming a threat to the USA in general and to Massachusetts in particular.
In order to understand how Darfur advocacy by the organized Jewish community harms the USA, the American public must change the paradigm that it uses to understand the conflict.
Darfur is the site of a very messy civil war. It is somewhat similar to the disaster that the US has caused in Iraq under the direction of extremist Zionist Neocons with two qualifications.
America is less directly involved, and the US has caused far more death and displacement of population in Iraq in four years than has occurred during 20 years of fighting in Darfur, where most of conflict related deaths have been the result of starvation or disease..
|
Here is a Muslim American view of the Sudan Divestment movement. |
Now we are seeing in Darfur a phase that looks something like Sherman's March through Georgia during the American Civil War.
Was the Union perpetrating genocide of white southerners? No.
Should the UK have undertaken an economic boycott of the Union? No.
The March was horrific, and the Union on the whole committed far more atrocities than the Confederacy during the Civil War, but British divestment from the Union would not have helped. would probably have prolonged the conflict, and might have assured the continuance of the slave system. Because British sanctions could have served British economic interests by removing the Union as an industrial competitor and by guaranteeing the flow of raw materials from the Confederacy, any economic punishment of the Union would have looked like self-serving hypocrisy.
Likewise, the organized Jewish community's proposal of selective divestment in Darfur will probably make the conflict more intractable, worsen conditions for Darfuran civilians, and remove any doubts non-Americans have about considering the USA a dangerous hypocritical nation that threatens the rest of the world.
Groups of Americans feign to care about alleged genocide in Darfur, but America is the mainstay of the State of Israel, which was founded by Eastern European Zionists after the mass murders of Jews during WW2. The Zionists stole the country and carried out a premeditated genocide of the native population with the justification that there is an etymological relationship between the word Jew and the word Judea. (See http://tinyurl.com/3bpcr6 for a brief discussion of Jewish ethnography.)
If the Irish had applied the same logic after the potato famines, they, who are mostly Roman Catholic, would have claimed the right to steal Rome and genocide the native population because the word Roman in the phrase Roman Catholic is a derivative of the proper noun Rome.
Obviously, Zionism is so extreme that it is psychotic, and we Americans certainly do not have the right to call people in Africa or Asia extremist if they are inclined to Islamism as long as we support the State of Israel, and practically no non-Americans anywhere believe any US claims of concern about genocide or of desire to support democracy, anti-racism and human rights throughout the world.
Even worse from our standpoint here in Massachusetts, the behavior of the David Project, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and the American Jewish Committee in the matter of the Roxbury Mosque as well as the ongoing Islamophobic incitement by these and other Jewish communal organizations, leads the rest of the world to consider the USA in general and Boston or Massachusetts in specific to be Islamophobia central. (See http://tinyurl.com/yrltfb.)
The Boston organized Jewish community inadvertently or perhaps purposely is putting the US and specifically Massachusetts in the same sort of adversarial relationship that the State of Israel has with the Arab and Muslim world.
One hundred years ago it would not have mattered, but in a world where travel between any two parts of the globe generally takes less than a day and where Arabic or Muslim countries are a major source of liquidity and investment capital, perceived hostility toward approximately 1.5 billion Muslims is really significant and costly to all Americans and those of us in Massachusetts in particular. When venture capitalists in the United Arab Emirates or in Malaysia look for biotech or hi-tech startups to fund, they skip over Massachusetts.
If the Massachusetts legislature really is sincere in caring about the lives and rights of Muslims either in Africa or here in the USA, or if the Massachusetts legislature wants to show Arabic and Islamic investors, who could genuinely help our economy, that we are not the flaming anti-Islamic bigots and fanatics that the professional Jews of the DP and their friends in the JCRC, ADL, and AJC are,
- it should be undertaking an investigation of criminal conspiracy that the David Project has organized against Muslim American citizens here in Boston, and
- it should support Islamic relief organizations to help the civilian population of Darfur.
The RAMBAM concludes the thirteen principles with a statement of key Jewish beliefs.
Ani maamin beemunah shlemah beviat hamashiah weaf al pi sheyitmahmeah, im kol zeh ehakeh lo bekhol sheyavo.
I believe with complete faith in the coming of the messiah, and even if he tarries, despite all this I will expect in anticipation of him every day that he will come.
Ani maamin be emunah shlemah, shetihyeh tehiyat hametim beet sheyaaleh ratzon meet habore yitbarakh shmo weyitaleh zikhro laad ulnetzah netzahim.
I believe with complete faith that there will be resurrection of the dead at the time of choosing of the Creator — blessed be His Name — and remembrance of him will be exalted forever and for all time.
These two affirmations underscore the core deceit that the organized Jewish community is committing. Stealing Palestine to create a Zionist state in the pre-messianic period is a rejection of the twelfth affirmation, and the organized Jewish community continues to lie about the State of Israel, the Middle East, Sudan, Arabs and Muslims, because faith in the resurrection that comes with the ultimate Day of Judgment is no longer of any concern to the organized Jewish community. Moreover, the vast majority of professional Jews in official Jewish communal organizations have substituted ethnic narcissism, Holocaust obsession and worship of the State of Israel for the fundamentals of Jewish faith, which Muslims equate with observance of the Tawrat Musa. This phrase is the Arabic equivalent of Torat Mosheh in Hebrew and of the Law of Moses in English.
The RAMBAM thus leads us to conclude this analysis of the importance of Darfur to the organized Jewish community as follows.
I believe with complete faith that racists are trying to deceive the Massachusetts legislature.[15]
Ani maamin beemunah shlemah shehagizanim menassim lehat`ot et beit hamhokekim shel Masatshusets.
Let the Massachusetts legislature undertake the following steps for the sake of Darfurans, Americans, and the millions of victims of Zionist machinations.
- Reject the Sudan Divestment proposal.
- Reject subversive groups that try to score political points for the sake of the State of Israel to the detriment of Massachusetts and the USA.
- Work to get the USA out of Iraq.
- Support the abolition of the Zionist State of Israel just as Massachusetts in the nineteenth century took the lead in confronting the very similar evil of American slavery.

The web site http://www.ifamericansknew.com has copiously documented New York Times distortions in matters related to Israel and Zionist issues, e.g., http://tinyurl.com/2h8g9x. The David Project seeks to place its Israel Advocacy trainees at the New York Times and other media organizations so that they can act as information gatekeepers and facilitators. (See http://tinyurl.com/2gmqe4 for an example at the Harvard Crimson.) Similar media manipulation seems to take place at the Boston Globe where columnist Jeff Jacoby often serves as the mouthpiece for David Project talking points. |
Sudan divestment is only the first step in a very dangerous international political program. The sort of genocide discourse that Darfur advocates use in talking about Sudan and that professional Jews use in demonizing Iran looks like gradual indoctrination to prepare the American public for military action first against Sudan and then against Iran. For the good of Americans and the peoples of Africa and the Middle East, we have to discuss the interventionist subtext in addition to the crisis for civilians in Darfur. Otherwise, the ultimate disaster will be worse than Iraq. Until we Americans come to a decision about policy toward Sudan by rational and open discussion, we should focus primarily on helping Darfuran civilians through legitimate international aid organizations, and we must seriously examine the motives and ultimate objectives of Darfur advocacy groups and the organized Jewish community when the claim to work to save Darfur.

Genocide Intervention Network
http://www.genocideintervention.net/about/mission.php
Our Mission
The Genocide Intervention Network envisions a world in which the global community is willing and able to protect civilians from genocide and mass atrocities. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide.
GI-Net aims to build an educated political constituency. GI-Net’s programs and policy goals will be consistent with the principles of the “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P) report. This report offers guidelines for international intervention when governments are unwilling or unable to protect their own citizens from preventable, widespread violence. Using the R2P report as a guide and consulting with the authors of the report and other experts, our efforts will enable citizens to support the most responsible and the most effective means of civilian protection in the face of genocidal crises.
Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur
http://savedarfurma.googlepages.com/TheMassachusettsCoalitiontoSaveDarfu.pdf
The mission of the Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur is to stimulate, support and facilitate the efforts of faith-based and secular organizations and individuals to educate, focus attention and inspire action to help the people of Darfur. The Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur is co-chaired by Sifa Nsengimana and Eric Cohen, following the founding work by the original co-chairs, Kenneth A. Sweder and Reverend Doctor Gloria White-Hammond.
[2] Massachusetts Sudan Divestment actually refers to the following three bills:
1. http://www.mass.gov/legis/185history/s01474.htm (S1474: pension divestment; full text: http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/senate/185/st01/st01474.htm),

The term Sudan Divestment Legislation refers to all three bills collectively.

[4] Amiram Barakat wrote about Mark Hanis’ “Birthright Israel” experience in “Members of the tribe / A cause in common” on August 26, 2006 (http://tinyurl.com/2hq3xs). The Economist (“Second thoughts about the Promised Land”, Jan. 11, 2007, http://tinyurl.com/3e2kdo) also discusses the effect of “Birthright Israel” on Hanis. Both the amount of coverage that Hanis has received and his complete obliviousness to the genocide that Zionists planned, executed and continue to carry out against Palestinians is astounding. The lack of journalistic interest in Hanis’ feelings about the ethnic cleansing and dispossession of Palestinians is also amazing.
[5] While Sudan is the first country against which the JCPA/JCRCs are demanding the implementation of a divestment program, the JCPA/JCRCs do have their own foreign policy, which is mostly Israel-centric, and they have tried to manipulate the USA into foreign aggression or interventions in the past.
JCRCs like the local chapters of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) hold extensive media update sessions to make sure that journalistic gatekeepers and facilitators disseminate precisely those stories considered “good for the Jews” or pro-Israel.
Below is a typical JCRC press release. The claim that the Taliban forced Hindus to wear identifying clothing is a variant of Amir Taheri’s calumny of Iran that he later retracted.

JCRC Condemns 'Despotic' Taliban Rule, Calls On International Community To Protect The Rights Of Minorities
(Boston, May 23, 2001)- The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston is horrified by the decision of Afghanistan's Taliban leadership to force members of the Hindu minority to wear identity labels on their clothing. This edict is reminiscent of the yellow star of David that Jews were required to wear in Nazi Germany.
In a statement today, JCRC President Geoffrey H. Lewis called upon the international community to condemn these acts and to work together to put an end to discrimination against minorities: "Haven't we been here before? This edict affects religious minorities everywhere, and must be stopped. We are ever mindful that the Nazi's requirement to wear the star was a prelude to the killing of 6 million Jews."
The Taliban's edict also discriminates against Hindu women, forcing them to wear a veil. "The situation for women in Afghanistan is appalling" stated Executive Director Nancy K. Kaufman "Women are not allowed to work, have been stripped of their professions and live in fear of their lives."All of this takes place in the wake of the recent destruction by the Taliban of historic Buddhist statues. JCRC welcomes the news that United States is committed to bringing the Taliban and other Afghan factions into compliance with international human rights norms.
[Note that the AJC not only provides media updates but also purchases hundreds of thousands of dollars of advertising in newspapers throughout the country. Papers dependent on such advertising revenue tend to become sensitive to AJC concerns about news and editorial coverage.
AJC Boston Chapter Launches Israel Ad Campaign
The American Jewish Committee’s Boston Chapter launched an ad campaign in the Boston Globe on Wednesday March 28th, to deepen understanding about Israel and support for her ongoing quest to achieve peace and security.
“It is critical that Bostonians understand the vitality of Israel’s democratic society and support Israel as she faces one of the most difficult periods since independence 59 years ago,” said Larry Lowenthal, Executive Director of AJC’s Boston Chapter.
Ads from the campaign will appear in the Boston Globe’s Opinion page once a week for the next eleven weeks.
[6] The JCRCs have worked hard to shut down any possibility of civil discussion of Israel violations of international laws relating to human rights, humanitarian law and war. The JCPA seems to strive for a similar approach to Sudan. If civil dialogue becomes impossible, only uncivil dialogue remains, and military intervention or war appears to be the goal of JCPA/JCRC discourse about Sudan and Darfur.

WHEREAS, SINCE ITS INCEPTION, THE UNITED STATES HAS STRONGLY SUPPORTED THE STATE OF ISRAEL AND ITS RIGHT TO EXIST AND DEFEND ITS BORDERS; AND
WHEREAS, THE STATE OF ISRAEL RECOGNIZES AND PROTECTS THE RIGHTS OF ALL HER PEOPLE, JEWISH AND NON-JEWISH; THEREFORE BE IT
RESOLVED, THAT THE MASSACHUSETTS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES EXTENDS ITS SUPPORT TO UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF STATE COLIN POWELL IN RECALLING OUR DELEGATION TO THE FLAWED UNITED NATION'S CONFERENCE ON RACISM AND COMMENDS HIM FOR HIS DECISIVE ACTION; AND BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, THAT A COPY OF THESE RESOLUTIONS BE FORWARDED BY THE CLERK OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF STATE COLIN POWELL.

[9] Boston Fundraiser for Darfur
The people of Darfur are struggling to live a life of normalcy in the midst of utter chaos, violence, and uncertainty. Many of the 2.2 million displaced residents of Darfur live in refugee camps, desperately trying to survive with shortages of food, healthcare, clean water, and sanitation.
In addition to assisting the people of Darfur with life's basic necessities, Islamic Relief operates a school with over 1,800 students and a health clinic that provides healthcare, medicine and health awareness training.
Understanding the importance of self-sufficiency, Islamic Relief also helps mobilize people to work together and find ways to earn a living.
Please join Islamic Relief on Sunday, April 1 for our fund-raising dinner aimed at helping the people of Darfur rebuild the lives they once had.

[10] Conceptually, am yisrael of Biblical Hebrew is fundamentally different from haam hayehudi of Modern Israeli Hebrew. Haam hayehudi is a loan translation of Yiddish dos yidishe folk or German das jüdische Volk. Volk in German is used to describe an ethnic or ethnonational group. It is fairly close to ethnos in koiné Greek, which in the Septuagint is invariably the translation of goy in the Hebrew bible, which uses goy as the term for a secular nation or a nation independent of God and which uses am for the host or community that God has consecrated. The Septuagint invariably uses koiné Greek laos as the translation for am. In koiné Greek the members of the cult of the Άσκληπιός (transliterated Asklēpiós, Latin Aesculapius), the demigod of medicine, constituted the laos of Asklēpiós. Traditional Rabbis in the 19th century and before referred to die jüdische Gemeinde, die jüdischeKehillah, der yidishe kahal or klal yisroel. Medieval rabbis or hakhamim preferred to use qehal maaminim or qehal meyahidim to describe the Jewish community as the community of believers or the community of monotheists.
[11] The ethnic Arab Egyptian Jewish scholar Sa'adiah ben Yosef Gaon (882–942 or 892–942; Hebrew: סעדיה בן יוסף גאון, Arabic: سعيد بن يوسف الفيومي Saīd bin Yūsuf al-Fayyūmi) states in Emunot weDeot (Kitab al-Amanat wal-l'tiķadat) 3,7: “Our nation is only a nation through its Torah” (Ummatenu ainah ummah ella betoratah).

[13] This sort of unethical, improper or even criminal misuse of funds is historically very common in Jewish communal political organizations and can be traced back hundreds of years since Eastern European Rabbinical authorities allied and merged with the wealthy merchant class. Using high profile lawsuits as a distraction from embezzlement appears to be a longstanding technique of Eastern European Jewish communal leaders that have been secretly dipping into the organizational cashbox. The current Bronfman Singer imbroglio only came to a head after all the major Holocaust lawsuits in which Singer was involved reached conclusions. (See http://tinyurl.com/2593s5.)
[14] In the March 18, 2007 Sunday Globe Magazine, Michael Paulson published a panegyric of the Krafts. Its title is “Giving Large” (http://tinyurl.com/33m8lj), and it has a lot of similarity to the earlier magazine piece on the Hammonds (“A family of fighters”, http://tinyurl.com/2zoojl).
[15] If you doubt that the organized Jewish community would lie about Darfur for the sake of Israel, please read the article “Fire destroys Neturei Karta synagogue, rabbi's residence in Monsey, N.Y.” from Haaretz, April 5, 2007 (http://haaretz.com/hasen/spages/845003.html). The current campaign within the Jewish community against critics of Zionism may have graduated from verbal assaults (http://tinyurl.com/yrltfb) to physical attacks.
Such Jewish intracommunal violence is nothing new. Zionists have a well-documented history of assaulting anti-Zionist Jews, and such conflicts within the Jewish community have not infrequently led to murder. (See A Murder in Lemberg by Michael Stanislawski, http://press.princeton.edu/titles/8382.html.) By comparison, lying about Arabs, Muslims and the Sudan is quite penny ante.
